Laureus World Sports Award

Laureus World Sports Award is an annual award that honours the achievements of individuals from the world of sports. Laureus Sports present the sports awards for Good Foundation founded under the patronage of Nelson Mandela. It is an organization that supports more than 200 programs in around 40 countries that use the power of sports to transform lives, to combat violence, discrimination and disadvantages faced by youngsters. 

Laureus Sports for Good has many global funding partners to assist in achieving its mission.

On 25 May 2000, the first award ceremony was held in Monte Carlo, Monaco where Nelson Mandela gave the keynote speech.
