Two words we are passionate about !!
Education and Home :-)
After coming home completing a two-decade journey of studying and working in IT leadership roles in the USA, the curiosity questions from our daughters have increased. As involved parents, we attend to all their questions. However, it wasn’t a practical solution. When we researched for a friendly resource where they can develop their holistic awareness and satiate their thirst for learning, we found none.
We strongly believe in encouraging kids to ask questions and slowly help them unravel these little puzzles that come their way. As in today’s ever-changing world, grades and ranks just don’t make the cut. They are no longer the deciding factors in a child’s future career.
Unconventional learning methods and streams other than Math & Sciences are discouraged in our traditional education systems. But, we insisted and persisted in bringing our daughters closer to their passionate areas. As a result of which, our older daughter became an author at age 8, and the younger became a budding artist at age 5.

This beautiful quote from Albert Einstein sums up our vision for Skillioma. We want our youth to expand their brain power and grow in their career.
While we were working in the USA, we saw many excellent programmers but they could not grow into leadership roles because of a lack of communication, and holistic, interdisciplinary, real-world skills. The lack of these essential skills is the reason for increasing the gap between education and employment. And this was witnessed first-hand when working in India for the first time.

In a generation where ‘google’ can spill information on any topic within a fraction of a second, our 21st-century students need to ‘learn how to learn.
In other words, they need research skills and also need to be able to quickly filter what’s relevant and what’s not for their career and growth. And be able to connect the dots from different disciplines in the real world.
The education system teaches the student to navigate in a linear fashion, but the real world is random, zig-zag and full of mazes. Navigating in the real world needs holistic skills where the brain is put to work.
As founders, we were confident that if we provide the right, relevant, real-world skills, we are building the critical arsenal in the youth that pays them for their lifetime. As we conceptualised and were about to launch our beta version, NEP 2020 guidelines came along with the same vision. It was an exhilarating discovery and validation for us.
And we made strides towards achieving our vision by creating a unique framework and in-house personalised programs for “K-12” and “Beyond 12th” that align with NEP 2020’s vision of holistic learning.
That is how Skillioma is born with a unique framework where the learning is real, relevant and meaningful.

Prior to finding Skillioma, Deepa has done her Master’s education from the US and
has held leadership roles working for fortune 100 companies. Her passion towards doing something purposeful led her to conceive the idea of Skillioma. She believes that through right education, the
children can conquer the world.
