When you think of Sudha Murty, what are the first things that pop into your mind?

Easy-to-read books such as ‘How I taught my grandmother to read and other stories,’ simplicity, calm face or gentle smile or her contribution to the Infosys Foundation and not to forget her husband, Mr Narayan Murty – the founder of Infosys, right?

But much before all this, did you know that this 2006 Padma Shri Awardee was the only girl in her engineering college? She studied in a college which did not have a girls’ toilet until she completed her education as they didn’t expect her to continue her studies!

It sounds strange, isn’t it? But these are all actual happenings in the life of Sudha Murthy who showed grit and determination even as a young 17-year old girl.
